triple pipes - not the problem I just picked up a set of SLP triple pipes for my 96 XLT RMK. This is the second XLT that I will be running triples on. I didn't have any issues with the first XLT, it ran great. I spent a lot of time on the phone with the helpful people at SLP. If you're thinking of pipes but you're not sure, give them a call.

#1 · Feb 18, 2015 (Edited) Hey guys I just bought this sled but I'm by no means new to sleddin, its a 1995 XLT 600 triple. I took it out for its first rip and snapped the drive belt. What a great start. I bought a new belt and thought nothing of it. but when I went to ride it with the new belt, it bogs badly unless I work the throttle and choke.

The Xtra Lite Triple was never designed to turn 9200 rpms and push out over 110 horsepower, which is why bolt on mods are all it can handle. A big factor in many piped and built up XLT failures is excessive heat. Removing the hood screens or adding a nosecone radiator is a good idea if you plan to really try and push the XLT to its limits.

A small piston port 600 triple with a single pipe. The ZRT was a triple / triple and should make more horse than an XLT.
